Full course description

Part 1 – Wednesday 20th March 2024 – 1:30pm to 5pm
Part 2 – Wednesday 27th March – 1:30pm to 5pm
£150 per person

During this course you will:

  • Reflect on the unique challenges, and opportunities, of delivering care in people’s homes, and the importance of your role. 
  • Develop practical care skills you can use when supporting people living with dementia and their families, in the community.  
  • Gain knowledge about person-centred, inclusive care, and how to promote independence; ‘doing with, not for’.  
  • Gain an understanding of how dementia impacts your clients. 
  • Develop skills in understanding your clients’ behaviour, and what they may be communicating through it. 
  • Develop skills in building relationships and communicating with clients and families. 
  • Develop self-care skills, recognising the importance of managing stress and accessing support in your role. 
  • Hear from Experts by Experience about their experiences of being supported by care staff in their own home.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an e-certificate for their CPD records.

Cancellations must be made via email to dementia@bradford.ac.uk. A full refund will be given for cancellations made 4 weeks before the start date of the course, and a 50% refund will be given if cancelled 2 weeks before the start date of the course. No refund will be paid for any cancellations less than 2 weeks before the start date of the course.
