·     This course will give the participant skills which will enable them to evaluate arts and other meaningful activities for people with dementia, on a one-to-one and/or group basis.

By the end of the course participants will be able to critically select, justify and discuss appropriate creative methods for facilitating the participation of people with dementia in the design, implementation and evaluation of arts projects.

Participants will  critically appraise a range of evidence to support the development of a specific arts project or activity group for one or more people with dementia.

Participants will critically analyse the representation of people with dementia in the arts and other popular media and employ forms of representation which work to reduce stigma.

Participants will learn how to apply ethical principles when implementing arts activities and become confident in applying the Mental Capacity Act (2005) where appropriate, to make best interests assessments when required.

Participants will be supported to begin to design, implement and evaluate an arts or activity intervention for one or more people with dementia.

 Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an e-certificate for their CPD records.

Cancellations must be made via email to dementia@bradford.ac.uk. For places cancelled by the Monday four weeks before the start of the course, the full course fee will be refunded. Between the following Tuesday and the second Monday before the course, inclusive, a charge of 50% of the fee will be made. After that day, or for non- attendance, the full amount will be payable.
